Ranchi DD boss Shailesh Pandit caught taking bribe by CBI

Ranchi: Ranchi Doordarshan Kendra's director in-charge Shailesh Pandit was caught red-handed by the CBI while accepting a cash bribe from a contractor on Wednesday morning, sending shockwaves in the capital's intellectual circles.   The bureaucrat (60), who is due to retire in a week's time, was accepting Rs 5,000 in cash at his official Ratu residence around 10.30am, when a 12-member team from the CBI's anti-corruption branch swooped in on him.   "It was a part of our trap," a senior CBI officer from Delhi told The Telegraph over phone. "The agency acted on information that he has been pressuring his subordinates and contractors for cuts against payments for work done."   Pandit served Ranchi's Doordarshan Kendra for three consecutive terms as deputy director and director in-charge.
